Eberhard Sandschneider has served as chair of the Department of Chinese and East Asian Politics at Free University (FU) in Berlin since 1998. He was the Otto Wolff Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) from 2003 to 2016. He leads the Department of Chinese and East Asian Politics at the Free University (FU) Berlin since 1998. Formerly, he also served as Managing Director of the FU Berlin’s Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science and as Dean of the university’s faculty for Political and Social Sciences. Sandschneider is the author of several books, among them “The Successful Decline of Europe” (2011, in German) and “Global rivals – China’s Scary Rise and the Impotence of the West” (2008, in German).
