The River in Me is a beautiful music documentary portraying the musical adventures and life struggles of five artists in rural northwest China: A folk rock performer, Su Yang, who wants to sing old rural ballads into the hearts of modern people; a storyteller who still wants to find someone in his sixties; a "flower" singer who enjoys singing love songs but is always teased by his fellow villagers; a Qin opera troupe leader who worries about finding actors; and a shadow play group leader who laments "shadow play is coming to an end" all day long... They compose music with soil and write words about fate. Life is played in a loop, but who says it can't be an exciting rock and roll? Music goes on and life goes on as well.
